The Story of 1530 Swift:

In 2009 NOCIX (Called Datashack at the time) had outgrown its space in downtown Kansas City and decided to expand north across the river and into the City of North Kansas City.

To facilitate this, it acquired the 24,000 sq ft building on the corner of 16th Ave and Clay St. The building was occupied by 5 printing companies at the time and required a complete remodel with all new interior, power and HVAC to support datacenter operations.

Once the building was ready, NOCIX moved all its dedicated infrastructure customers into the new facility, leaving its colocation customers at Oak Tower.

In 2016, after several years of operating both facilities, NOCIX divested itself of its colocation customers and its Oak Tower facility and moved to focus solely on its infrastructure offerings.

Over the next couple years, requests for colocation services, specifically services diverse from the downtown loop, continued to pour in. So much so that to meet this demand, NOCIX made a deal to purchase the north 150,000 sq ft section of the 346,000 sq ft former Hallmark warehouse located at 1520 Swift. Right next door to its current facility.

This section was replatted and readdressed to 1530 Swift and in October of 2020 construction began.

Construction is ongoing and when finished, both facilities will be combined into a single campus consisting of roughly 175,000 sq ft of datacenter space and 10,000 sq ft of office space. It will be the only Tier 3 certified facility in Kansas City and only the 9th Tier 4 Certified facility in the country. It is already the largest peering ecosystem in North America.
