Nocix Datacenter Colocation - Rules and Guidelines

A Datacenter is a specially designed computer room with high standards to ensure the integrity and proper functioning of its hosted computing and communications environments. The datacenter is a restricted area requiring a much greater level of control than normal work spaces. Only those individuals who are expressly authorized to do so may enter this area. Access privileges will be granted to individuals who have a legitimate business requirement to be in the datacenter.

This document establishes guidelines for access and physical security related to the datacenter. The procedures and policies described in this document have been developed to help maintain a stable and secure datacenter environment as well as improve stability and security of the systems for all customers and must be followed by any and all individuals working in or visiting the datacenter. Failure to comply with these rules, or other behavior deemed inappropriate or that poses a risk to these facilities or their systems, may result in the loss of access.

  • Physical Access

    • All Datacenter customers are required to have an active account in good standing and must possess a Nocix provided access card.
    • Authorization applies only to the named individual, is not transferable, and does not permit that individual to extend access to any other person.
    • Third party vendors providing support for IT systems are permitted in the facility only with a datacenter customer escort.
    • Any tours of the facility must be coordinated with Nocix Datacenter Management staff.
    • Datacenter and security doors will remain locked or secured at all times. Doors to the datacenter are never to be propped open.
    • Extreme caution should be exercised to ensure that unauthorized persons do not gain access to the facility by tailgating.
  • General Work Rules

    • Customers must carry proper identification with them at all times within the datacenter. Falsifying or withholding one's identity or refusing to cooperate with datacenter personnel is a violation of these rules.
    • Escorted vendors are required to have proper state and/or company issued identification at all times when performing work within the datacenter.
    • Datacenter management staff reserves the right to exclude any individual from the facility. Anyone requested to leave the datacenter must do so peacefully and immediately.
    • All customers and visitors agree to report any violation of these rules, or any other suspicious or improper activity to the Nocix datacenter management staff.
    • Customers and visitors are solely responsible for their personal belongings and property while on the premises.
    • Touching, inspecting, documenting, photographing or any form of tampering with Nocix, or other customer(s) equipment is strictly prohibited. Persons seen engaging in such activity will be reported and may be subject to expulsion from the facility.
    • Visitation of the datacenter is contingent upon compliance with all Nocix policies and rules.
    • Food and drink, and liquids of any type are not permitted within the datacenter, including sealed containers. The customer lounge is available for your convenience. Please keep food and drink items in this designated area.
    • All unpacking activities must occur outside the datacenter in designated staging areas. Absolutely no cardboard, plastic, packing peanuts, paper wrap, wood or other such materials are allowed in the datacenter.
    • Our staff is available to assist with physically maneuvering your equipment into your cabinet. You engage our staff at your own risk and agree to hold Nocix, our employees, contactors, etc harmless for any damages even if such damages are caused by negligence or malice.
  • Safety

Datacenters can be hazardous due to the presence of high voltage electricity and trip hazards. In order to minimize the risk of personal injury, the following rules will be observed.

    • Avoid safety cones, barricades, caution tape, or other safety equipment that has been installed to guide you around hazardous areas including open floor tiles.
    • Do not alter anything in the datacenter. This includes the floor tiles in the datacenter. If there is a need to get under the datacenter floor, please notify a technician for assistance.
    • For safety purposes, children under the age of 16 are not allowed on the datacenter floor.
    • The datacenter and staging area must be kept as clean as possible. All individuals in the datacenter are expected to maintain a clean working environment and clean up after activities as required. Boxes and trash should be disposed of properly and immediately after use.
    • Closed-toe footwear will be worn at all times while in the datacenter. Extreme caution should be used when wearing high heel shoes; this footwear may pose a risk while walking across certain perforated floor tiles.
    • No network cables or power cords should be strung along the floor, or across racks, creating a trip hazard.
    • Due to the noise volume within the datacenter itself, the use of hearing protection is recommended.
    • Do not access, or attempt to access any areas you have not been given card access for, or permission to enter.
    • No unauthorized use of Nocix equipment, or machinery is allowed.
  • Emergencies

    • In the event of an emergency, exit the facility immediately and contact Nocix staff.
    • Violations of these rules or any nonemergency datacenter incidents should be reported to the datacenter manager.
